The Unsensible Podcast returns for Season 2 with some new faces (Jonathan has a face for radio for sure) and new content.
Broadcasting from locations across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Ho Chi Minh City, we're adapting to a more mobile setup while maintaining our focus on startup growth and marketing insights.
New episodes incoming!
Welcome back to season two of the Unsensible Podcast.
If you've joined in from YouTube, you'll notice I am not sitting in the usual studio at the moment.
I'm in a hotel room in Hong Kong because from about March this year, I've been on the road quite a lot, heavily commuting between Singapore, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon.
We're building a design studio there and I've had to spend a lot of time in Vietnam to build up that office.
Man, setting up an office takes a long time.
I did that in Hong Kong and why have I chosen to do that again?
Anyway, it's been an exciting and chaotic few months and which is why it's taken so long for us to get to season two.
But with that additional amount of time, we've had a chance to actually do a lot of thinking about how to program the podcast moving forward.
And there's a few things that the team and I have been working through and we've come up with some ideas which I think you'll like.
So a lot of this came from feedback from people we've spoken to who'd listened to the podcast and we think some of these tweaks will actually make the podcast even more valuable and more interesting for all of you guys who do listen to us.
First up, the most obvious, we don't have a full-time studio anymore and I practically shoot everything from a mobile studio on the road because for all intent and purposes, I don't foresee being in one town myself for a very extended period of time given the amount of conferences and ecosystem events that I attend across the region.
That means that we won't be able to have the usual high quality production that I'm used to but we're going to make do.
Like every founder, I can't get everything I want.
The second thing on the programming side is I am going to bring in some of my colleagues and if you've worked with us, you will have met them.
They're brilliant people like Jess who's our managing director, Karis who's our head of brand and Kimberly who is our client partner.
They have different perspectives from me which is fantastic and they're also going to be bringing in some of their own guests.
So you'll hear from a different range of founders as we roll them on board.
The purpose of this is actually twofold.
Number one, I mentioned earlier is I want you guys to be more exposed to a different number of perspectives but also number two is it's going to make my job a little bit easier trying to get this content up and uploaded.
Now I know that we're a marketing firm and I tell clients all the time that they need to be uploading content, they need to be creating content and actually it's a hard ask.
I understand it's a hard ask and this is you witnessing us eating our own dog food as well and working out how we can actually do our content and spread the load out and still produce quality stuff.
In the coming weeks, we're going to announce a series of regular guest hosts who will join us on a panel and we'll discuss different topics that also matter to startups but may not necessarily deal specifically with the issue of go-to-market and marketing.
Finally on the topic of programming, we're going to be testing some new segments.
The first one we're going to test is DoubleClick and DoubleClick we're going to drill down into some topics that clients have asked us in the past where we typically just give the answer but not the thinking behind.
As an example, you know some clients when they do a rebrand we say you know you need to change this, you need to change that, you look a bit scammy and we never give them the full answer as to why but there are reasons and research why some of these things are considered best practice or why we might recommend something.
I don't want to go on for hours and hours but I want to give you a quick intro into season two, some of the changes and I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you.
Thank you for tuning in and new episode released very soon.
